Placing Our Loved Ones in God’s Hands

Jan 18, 2026

Some people think prayer has to be big and polished.

Long, perfect words.
The right verses.
The “strong” kind of faith.

As a survivor, I’ve learned that most of the real prayers during cancer are much simpler than that.

“Lord, help.”
“Give me strength for this appointment.”
“Watch over the ones I love.”

On Sundays at CancerWalk, I like to set aside a little space just for that: prayer.

You might be praying for

A scan coming up this week.
A friend who’s exhausted from caregiving.
A loved one whose heart is breaking in the background.

I believe God sees every one of those situations more clearly than we do.

He knows the story behind each name.

When we pray, we’re not giving Him information He doesn’t have.

We’re simply placing those people and situations back into His hands.

Today, as you read this, I’d like to invite you to pause for a moment.

Think of one person who needs extra strength, comfort, or peace.

Then, if you want to, add a simple prayer like:

“Lord, be close to them today.
Give them what they need in this moment.”

It doesn’t have to be fancy.
It just has to be honest.

Hard seasons can make us feel scattered and alone.

But when we pray for each other, even quietly, we are reminded of something beautiful:

We are not walking this road by ourselves.
