The words that change everything

I will never forget the words:

“You’ve got cancer.”

Even though I’m grateful I didn’t experience the worst of the worst in treatment, those words flipped a switch in me.

Suddenly I understood things I couldn’t understand before:

How lonely cancer can feel.
How much people want to talk.
How much they need to be heard.
